Mobility Spaces and Materiality in Transportation Infrastructure
Frapont, march 2026
Airports and train stations are more than transit points—they are architectural orchestrations of movement, where every corridor, volume, and material shapes the experience of thousands of people daily.
Designing these environments requires understanding contemporary mobility as a dynamic system, where every detail—from circulation paths to material choices—affects how people orient themselves, wait, and move through the space.

Over the years, we have contributed to a variety of projects in airports and railway stations, each presenting unique challenges related to passenger flow, spatial quality, and construction precision.
Some highlights include:
SAINT DENIS PLEYEL STATION
At Saint-Denis Pleyel Metro Station, part of the Grand Paris Express and designed by Kengo Kuma Associates, we designed, manufactured, and installed over 11,000m² of acoustic ceilings using nearly 32km of fire-rated spruce slats, contributing to Paris’s major urban transformation ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games.

ZARAGOZA – DELICIAS TRAIN STATION
At Zaragoza–Delicias Station, one of Spain’s most iconic intermodal hubs designed by Carlos Ferrater and José María Valero, we delivered bespoke woodworking solutions including the interior ceilings and wood cladding of the station’s main interior spaces. Our work enhances the architectural expression of the vast, light-filled concourse and complements the station’s remarkable structural geometry and spatial scale.
BERGEN AIRPORT
At Bergen Airport, Norway’s second-largest airport, we contributed to the new 63,000m² Terminal 3, designed by Nordic Architects. Our work included project development and management in BIM, as well as the fabrication of 50,000m² of wooden and aluminum slatted ceilings for both interior and exterior spaces. We also manufactured and installed extensive acoustic panels and cladding throughout the terminal’s public areas.
VIP LOUNGE AT BARCELONA AIRPORT
At Barcelona–El Prat Airport, we executed wall and ceiling cladding in the new air traffic control rooms, as well as in VIP areas and executive zones, using oak-faced panels and acoustic solutions. We also fabricated and installed over 1,000 fire- and sound-rated technical doors, integrated and freestanding furniture, and 5,000m² of HPL exterior suspended ceilings for commercial areas.
STOCKHOLM ARLANDA AIRPORT
The new security checkpoint in Terminal 5 at Stockholm Arlanda Airport is more than just a technical upgrade; it is a welcoming portal to your journey defined by a bright, wood-centric atmosphere.
Working in close partnership with Tengbom Arkitekter and main contractor In3prenör, we have shaped a space that harmonizes the transition from the city’s pulse to the excitement of travel.
The ribbed wall cladding accompanies passengers through the tax-free areas and food courts, offering a warm Scandinavian farewell as they head toward their gates.
Frapont is currently involved in the interior development of Gothenburg Central Station, one of the most important railway hubs in Scandinavia. This project represents a significant milestone in our trajectory, forming part of a strategic transformation to meet the needs of a modern, evolving rail network.
OUR APPROACH
Working in transportation infrastructure projects involves a high level of technical complexity. Projects often include large surfaces, work at height, and finishes that must include multiple systems.
Our approach focuses on technical synthesis, coordination, and execution. Architectural elements must integrate seamlessly with electrical systems, air treatment, safety infrastructure, lighting, sound, and surveillance.
Delivering these projects successfully requires strong expertise in procurement and logistics, installation management, and multidisciplinary coordination, ensuring that complex technical requirements are translated into clear, precise, and durable architectural solutions.
