Stormen Hall is the new cultural center of the city of Bodo in Norway designed by the London architectural firm DRDH. The complex consists of a large public library of more than 6,300m2 and a complex with three multipurpose music halls, including the main one with a surface area of 11,200m2.
In the library, divided into three floors, Frapont has developed, manufactured and installed the flooring and wood cladding and all the fixed furniture elements, including the colorful furniture in the children’s area.
Other outstanding works of Frapont are the multipurpose auditoriums, which have required, due to acoustic requirements, that the coatings can be adapted depending on the musical style to be performed inside. Different types of movable panels combining wood and acoustic fabric have been used to achieve the required versatility. In the main auditorium, a motorized system allows the panels to be changed, allowing the operator to choose between absorbent or reflective cladding.
The ceilings and balconies with double curvature of calcium sulfate, as well as its fastening structures, have been a great challenge for us due to the high specific weight of the material in question and the complexity to perform the double curvatures projected.
A very special project for us in which the integration of different materials stands out, as well as the development and management of the project using BIM methodology.
